Little Tart Bakeshop/Octane hybrid to open in Grant Park – Creative Loafing

The Little Tart Bakeshop and coffee fave Octane are joining forces to open a new shop in Grant Park’s the Jane (already home to Six Feet Under and Republic Social House). This will be the first full-service shop for the Little Tart, currently its treats are primarily sold at farmers markets around town.

The shop expects to be up and running in August, opening daily at 7 a.m., with Little Tart operating until 6 p.m. and Octane staying open a bit later into the night. Octane will operate a full bar and also intends to serve up Little Tart treats in the evening hours. The new shop will have its own unique vibe, but Octane fans will notice some familiar elements from the Westside location.

So, what about the food? Stop by on your way to work for yummy breakfast items including flaky croissants, brioche with local fruit jam, scones, brunch puffs, and local bacon and spinach quiche. Then come back for lunch, when the menu will expand to include local veggie tarts, more quiche options and salads. Finish off the meal with a sweet treat like a dark chocolate and sea salt caramel tart, or take some with you for later.“Our motto at the Little Tart is ‘handmade with love and local ingredients,’” says founder Sarah O’Brien. “We work really hard to source local and organic produce and fruit, and use only local eggs, dairy and honey in our baking.”

Little Tart has made lots of friends in the farmers market circuit, helping them produce a truly local product that sets forth a higher standard of pastry. “When we say local, we mean it,” emphasized O’Brien. “We don’t cut corners, and we love what we do.”

Keep up with Little Tart on Facebook to be sure you’re the first to know when they open the doors at The Jane.
